Hoy era un día fabuloso. ¡Los bomberos han venido a visitarnos! Todos los estudiantes se sentaron cuando los bomberos entraron con sus uniformes y todo su equipamiento y herramientas.
Today was a really good day. The firefighters came to visit! All the students sat in the arts and craft room and the firefighters walked in with their uniforms on and with all their specialist equipment and tools.
Primero enseñaron a los niños como ponen a su ropa a prueba de fuego rapidamente, los pantalones están atados a las botas para que entran sus pies cuando la alarma suena y bajan la pértiga. Su chaqueta tiene 4 capas de un tejido especial contra fuegos y sus cascos tiene un sistema de comunicación en la parte de arriba del craneo. Los bomberos también enseñaron a los niños su botella de oxígeno, mascara, harnes que llega a 3 plantas y sus alarmas personales, que suena si están quietos demasiado tiempo – avisando a sus colegas que pueden estar en peligro.

First of all they showed the children how they put their special fire-proof clothes on quickly, the trousers were attached to the boots ready to slip their feet in when the fire alarm goes off and they slide down the pole. The jacket has 4 layers of special fire-proof material and the helmets had a communication system in the top part of the skull area. The firemen also showed the children their oxygen bottle, mask, harness which reaches three floors and their personal alarm, which goes off when they stay still for too long – warning their colleagues that they may be in danger.
Ms Sheila then tried the uniform on, in total it weighs 20 kilos, very heavy! Sirens went off in the background and Ms Sheila rode around in the cardboard firetruck.
